The bar
Chengdu street culture, run out of a shophouse in the middle of the Singapore CBD.
Pekin Street
A shophouse, a charcoal trough, and a very long night.
Far East Square sits on the old streets between Telok Ayer and Cross Street. We took a unit on Pekin Street, put a charcoal grill at one end and a full bar at the other.
Three minutes on foot from Telok Ayer MRT, and about the same from the office towers behind it.
What we do
Charcoal first. Everything else follows it.
- 串Skewers from $1.50
- Chengdu-style chuan over charcoal. Beef, cumin lamb, and a foie gras skewer at $2.99 that no other bar in Singapore has.
- 锅Sichuan zi char
- Wok dishes out of the kitchen for the table, not just sticks.
- 酒Beer, whisky, baijiu, cocktails
- Plus $29.90++ free flow for ninety minutes when the table wants to commit.
- 乐Live music
- Late, loud, and the reason people stay past the first round.
